In this tutorial, you will learn step by step how to export products from WooCommerce, edit them in Excel, save the changes in CSV format and upload them in bulk to your store. This process is useful to save time and efficiently manage your inventory.

1. Export products from WooCommerce

  1. Access the WooCommerce Control Panel :

    • Log in to your WordPress.

    • Go to the side menu and select Products > All Products .

  2. Select the Export option :

    • At the top of the page, click the Export button.

    • A window will appear with the export options.

  3. Configure the export :

    • Choose what data you want to export (name, price, SKU, stock, categories, etc.).

    • If you want to export all products, leave the default boxes.

    • Click the Generate CSV File button to download the file.

  4. Save the CSV file :

    • Save the file to your computer and open it with Excel or a similar program.

2. Modify products in Excel

  1. Open CSV file in Excel :

    • Double-click the CSV file or open it from Excel using the Open > Browse option.

  2. Edit data :

    • Modify the values according to your needs:

      • Product Name : Change titles to improve SEO.

      • Description : Use relevant keywords.

      • Price : Adjust prices as needed.

      • Stock : Updates the available quantity.

      • Categories : Make sure each product has relevant categories.

  3. Keep the correct format :

    • Please do not modify the column headers, as WooCommerce needs them to interpret the data correctly.

  4. Save the file as CSV :

    • Go to File > Save As and select the Comma Delimited CSV (.csv) format.

    • Be sure to replace the original file or save it with a new name to avoid confusion.

3. Bulk upload products to WooCommerce

  1. Access the product importer :

    • In the WooCommerce side menu, select Products > Import .

  2. Select the CSV file :

    • Click the Choose File button and select the CSV file you edited.

  3. Set up the import :

    • WooCommerce will detect the columns in your CSV file and prompt you to map them to the appropriate fields.

    • Verify that each column is correctly assigned. For example:

      • Product Name ➡ Name of the product.

      • Price ➡ Price.

      • Stock ➡ Inventory.

    • Adjust any fields if necessary.

  4. Start import :

    • Click Run Importer .

    • WooCommerce will process the file and upload the products to your store.

  5. Check the results :

    • Once the import is complete, review the products under Products > All Products to confirm that they have been uploaded successfully.

SEO and optimization tips :

  • Use keyword-rich descriptions : Write unique, SEO-optimized descriptions, highlighting key benefits and features.

  • Set up attractive titles : Include relevant keywords to improve visibility in search engines.

  • Categories and Tags : Make sure all products are properly organized into categories and have descriptive tags.

  • Optimized images : Before uploading associated images, optimize them for the web (reduced size and appropriate format).

Common mistakes and how to avoid them

  1. Incorrectly Mapped Columns – Verify that each column in the CSV file is correctly mapped to a field in WooCommerce.

  2. Incorrect file format : Always save the file in comma-delimited CSV format.

  3. Modified headers : Do not alter the column names to avoid import errors.

With this process, you will be able to manage your products in a massive and efficient way, optimizing your time and improving the presence of your online store.
